Welcome to Arst.dk - Your guide to finding the nicest place to live in Denmark
Arst.dk was launched in December 2023, with a mission to offer home seekers in Denmark a tool to find the perfect place to live in Denmark, based on as much relevant data as possible.
The focus is on using the nice things in life as a guide to finding the best place to live. The Niceness index ("Rarheds indeks") under each municipality is based on parameters such as natural diversity of plant and animal species, how little light pollution there is so the stars can be seen at night, how much cultural activity there is, and not least -- how much does a home cost?
Expensive mortgages have to be paid off, and more and more people want to work less and instead spend their time exploring the diverse nature in Denmark, going to the movies, looking up at the starry sky, or visiting some of the hundreds of fantastic museums and galleries that can be found throughout Denmark.
There are many available datasets out there that can give a sense of the level of the good stuff in each municipality. But digging them up and getting an overview is hugely time-consuming. Comparing them is almost impossible.
That is why we built Arst.dk, so that home seekers can easily and simply explore the options before deciding to buy a home. We offer an overview so you can focus on exactly what you think is most important and help you find the perfect place to live in Denmark.

How does it work?
Arst.dk is your partner in the housing search. Several datasets are presented on the map, where you can focus on your interests and parameters with the filters on the left side of the map. Once you have found a handful of interesting municipalities, you can compare them side-by-side. Under the individual municipality you can see all the values, cinemas and museums in the municipality.
Who is behind?
Arst.dk is built by the web development agency Ardea in Drupal using Geofield, Leaflet and Search API Solr, among others. We specialize in developing visualization of complex data, contact us if you need assistance.
Data
Arst.dk presents information that originates from open data sources provided by public authorities in Denmark and other sources. Below each map is a link to the source of each dataset. If you have suggestions for new datasets, we would love to hear from you, please contact us with your suggestions. Preferably nice data.
